Vrishabha Sankranti marks the Sun's entry into Vrishabha (Taurus). It is a quieter solar festival, kept chiefly as a day of holy bathing and charity, and in parts of the east it opens a new solar month of temple worship.

Devotees bathe in sacred rivers at dawn, offer water to the Sun (Surya Arghya) and give alms suited to the gathering summer heat - water pots, grains and shade. Vishnu and Surya temples hold special worship.
